VISION & MISSION
VISION: No resident of Broomfield will have their ability to thrive diminished by a lack of access to safe and affordable housing.
MISSION: Partnering to create abundant, attainable, inclusive and sustainable housing that gives all residents of Broomfield an opportunity to thrive.
WE BELIEVE IN HOUSING
We believe housing makes a mark. Our identities are as shaped by the environments we live in, as they are by the people we live around. No matter what their individual experience may have been, every person has deep, emotional connections to home that influence nearly every aspect of their lives — from how they feel safe, to how they define success, to how they experience belonging.
We know housing has an outsized impact on each person's ability to thrive in this world and participate in their community. And while the ability to thrive is ultimately up to the individual, the opportunity to thrive is the direct and immediate result of the systems we create as a society to support healthy, inclusive and sustainable communities. This is the immutable truth of housing.
OUR HISTORY
When Broomfield became a county in 2001, the City Council established a Housing Authority, with council members serving as its commissioners.
As housing costs rose, Broomfield formed the Housing Advisory Committee (HAC) in 2016 to assess local housing challenges. Comprised of community leaders, faith-based organizations, and nonprofits, the HAC recommended a Housing Needs Assessment which led to the call for an independent Housing Authority Board to enhance engagement and investment.
Following research, community input, and a public hearing, City Council approved the board’s creation in October 2021. The appointed commissioners launched the Broomfield Housing Authority on January 1, 2022. In mid-2022, the board adopted the trade name Broomfield Housing Alliance to emphasize collaboration with partner agencies, the community and residents in expanding housing opportunities.
